Please, Stop.

This is my safe space, and so is yours. It is where i pour out my thoughts and emotions and you can also do the same in my email or comment section. A quick check in, how are you holding up dear reader? I literally had to talk myself out of a negative thought, it keeps on looming though. Somedays you feel like you are on your lowest and the only hope there is, is knowing that it will pass, just don’t know how yet. If we are in this together ,whatever you are going through we shall be okay. leave it to God.

Okay, can we get into things i need us to stop for real. I was scrolling through the internet and happenned to find an anti-do list which i definitely agree with. So, please stop:

Obsessing over bad photos of you– like it or not thats you and probably it was just a wrong angle. Let me tell you if you are going through an acne phase like i am right now chances are you do not like any photo of you. Yesterday i almost went back to the house after taking a couple of selfies which is usually my routine before i leave, uh it brought me down, but then again, nobody cares and if they do ,thats on them. Obessing over bad photos might lead up to self esteem issues even stress and thats not us. Just delete and move on.

Reusing passwords– i am talking to you, please stop. I know most of us have the same password for everything, if one gets to know then your whole life is ruined. Master some new passwords and it helps to write them down. Be creative too.

Alcohol-I understand it is not the easiest thing to do , cut on it please. Some green tea maybe? A dawa you know, covid.

Saving up your fine china– ladies i am talking to you. You are waiting for a special occassion or person for you to use that fine set of plates or cutlery. You are the special person and everyday on this earth is a special occassion. It is the ignorance and entitlement for me, thinking that tomorrow is promised, to make it worse you are single, come on.

Postponing to back up your important documents– if you are reading this ,take it as a reminder and cue to actually do it now. Back up those important files now, you never know!

Spending a lot of time on social media– have you actually ever checked your screen time? social media is equally good and bad and if not monitored it might be more harmful to you. It is aplace where everyone is thriving, but that is usually not the case. If you are coming from my socials you know how well i live on there but here i tell you the reality. Get hobbies, read a hardcopy book, take a walk, converse, deep clean. Just make sure your screen time is not taking too much of your 24hrs, Okay Nathan?

Spending all day in bed on the weekends -can we please stop. It is said a sunday well spent brings a week of contempt, mostly spending the day outdoors ,in nature is recommended. There are usually things to do that dont take up a lot of energy than spending in bed,get some ideas here.

Not setting and following boundaries– this is a heavy one, especially if it involves close friends and family. I was listening to Angelou Maya and she said that ‘there is a place in you that you must keep clean, it is a place within yourself that nobody else has a right to invade. You have to be able to say NO, back up.’ Set clear boundaries and follow them. Guard yourself always it doesnt matter if it is your father, sister or best friend. Remember NO is a complete sentence, you dont have to explain yourself.

Perfectionism– quit it! Nobody is perfect and that is what makes us beautiful and interesting. Give it your best and leave the rest to God. Nothing more, nothing less.

Please stop listening to the same king of music. Explore. This is where i remind you that i do love being on the lake side enjoying some Ohangla music, likes of Musa Jakadalla, even though i dont understand. I also love me some Mugithi likes of Sammidoh. So lets maintain a peaceful election, Kenyans. Especially us YOUTHS.
