My Mental Health

It has been a roller coaster, no lie. As one ages, one is faced by different life situations, and you cannot just escape, you deal with them head on. The many times I have wanted to “shukisha”on this adulting bus,countless.

My most persistent feeling is getting stuck, feeling like I’m not moving,I’m not doing what I need to be doing things are not working out for me, clouded with judgement,resentment and even jealousy. I end up feeling pity for myself and now it’s a whole week of negative thoughts,bad eating habits, crying ,anger,frustration just to say the least.

I want to assume I’m not the only one. The good thing about all this is you end up realizing you have certain behaviours as a result of a certain bad feeling or thought. So with this I have been able to create a routine on what I do to get out of that funk and mental drain.

I love being on a farm, lots of greenery,walking on grass ,it calms me a lot. Also something I have done is face my fears and that is dogs and swimming. Oh, it’s almost orgasmic, when you get to face your fears and realize it all in your mind and you are even more stronger than you think.

Dressing up is always my go to thing . I love to style myself and accessorize. Photography is also another hobby I’m taking up, I got a good camera so why not. Coloring has been the best thing I’ve done too.

I invest in different kinds of tea and tastes of coffee. It is only fair, I come from Kenya and we have the best of the best so why not make that a good self care moment savouring different kinds of flavours. Urg uno Perfecto.

Journaling,writing, having conversations with friends, it all goes a long way. Taking care of your mind is essential and should always be on top of your list. There are just so many ways to do it. This is not to say that you will not get into a funk again but when you know what to do to get on and better it becomes easier for sure.
