Low budget travelling tips.

Decide – travelling is not a cheap ordeal, and you have to decide if you want to do it or not. Making a decision that I will travel next year and it’s final, then you start planning.

Plan ahead– I mean plan ahead, it is low budget right so why not start saving just right after your last trip. It could take a year or more or less. Just plan ahead especially when it comes to finances, accommodation and food, other itineraries can be sorted later.

Budget– self explanatory isn’t it. If you are in the 254 chumz is a good app that allows you to save according to your goals and income. Locked account that will enable you to save without the urge to use the money. Find out more about it Here. Tried and tested.

Have plans– if you decide someone is hosting you, then it is upon you to make plans for yourself not waiting for the host to make plans, what if they are engaged ,the world does not stop with you , you know. Get a life. Okay ,I mean ,use Google ,Instagram to find out what is happening in the said city or town.

Due diligence – there is so much you can do prior to travelling that can save you a lot of money. Like first the most affordable nice hotel? Safety guidelines for that town maybe you are travelling to Nairobi so that means you don’t go shooting on your phone just anyhow. The best places to find good food, like in Mombasa – Bamburi at Ammoh’s place has the best biryani and pilau in town. Find out about the culture, be interested in learning and assimilating.

Moderation– is key. You really can’t be on a budget drinking yourself out of your pockets just because. At eateries ordering something you can’t afford , stick to the plan. Moderation is key, usioverdo.

Rest– oh yes I said rest. Find a day or some good hours to rest. If you are travelling you need that , so that you have no burn out and now you are in hospital and your NHIF cannot reflect. Relax.

Have fun while at it. Don’t worry too much. You have already decided, planned, done your due diligence, doing everything in moderation, be in the moment. The rest shall be sorted out later.

As a sociologist, the best advice I could give is do what people in that town do. Enjoy their culture– way of life. Assimilate from the food, language to activities. This is a pro tip because it saves you a lot of money since people just think you are from there and not a visitor. You know how Kenyans are, make you pay double the price just because you are a tourist.

These tips are just for low budget travelling, one day Inshallah we shall do travelling with a luxurious type of budget. Okrr. Love and lots of love. See you sooner than you think.
