State of Governance.

The country’s political landscape is already marked with mix of progress and challenges. The political mood is gradually taking shape with many leaders loosing sight of delivering the agendas they gave in the previous campaign periods. This affects the entire functionality of the whole system. The president’s talks, and allied MPs are already in the Campaign mood forgetting they have key manifestos to implement.

Issues around electoral reforms just like in the previous regimes is Once again coming up and this is a matter that has been discussed for the last 2 decades, after every Elections we go into reformation of the IEBC.

Amongst many other issues, we’ve delved into changing electoral laws and regulations as well as improvements in electoral management and oversight mechanism, however challenges such as voter registrations, boundary delimitations and election results disputes have persisted and it’s high time as a nation we take a break and seek long lasting solutions.

Unfortunately, sad to say that we are a country governed by the rule of law,but the constant contest between the judiciary and the executive gives a different picture of one arm trying to arm twist the other instead of work independently. Efforts to strengthen the rule of law and uphold human rights are important and should be prioritised by all the entities, and this is a matter that should be discussed openly with a lot of sanity in the interest of the whole nation.

Conclusively, Kenya’s governance landscape is characterized by a mix of progress and challenges. While there’s efforts to address issues such as corruption, enhance devolution, and reform electoral system, persistent challenges remains in areas such as political stability, rule of law, and human rights protection.

For the long term stability of the country, continued efforts to strengthen democratic institutions, promote accountability, and address the underlying causes of governance challenges remains essential and key.
